I have a 2014 Ram 1500 Quad Cab.

The driver's door lock actuator has gone bad.

I tried to replace it yesterday, but couldn't figure out how to remove the old one. Have any of you done this?

The top part of the actuator clips on to a "floppy" black plastic piece that's attached to the door. (see attached photo) I can't figure out how to disconnect it.

I have to work at it through the door. It looks like the actuator might come out with the plastic vapor seal, but I can't figure out how to remove that either. I removed all the bolts on the edge of the vapor seal (there are about 10 bolts). But that thing still doesn't come out. I can't figure out what holds it in.

In case anybody else is looking for the answer, I was able to replace my actuator.

It turns out the trick is to detach the window from its holder. (Which is not too difficult.)

Here is a thread that shows how to do it: http://www.ramforum.com/f75/how_removing_inner_door_panel_window-79539/

I didn't completely remove the glass, like in that thread. Instead, I just disconnected the clips, and then used some duct tape over the door frame to hold the window in place for the 5 minutes needed to replace the actuator.
