My 2012 Ram 1500 Big Horn instrument panel backlight flickers randomly when driving. This started after the dealer replaced the TIPM. As soon as I picked it up from the dealer I noticed the issue.
The dealer says it is unrelated and most likely wants to charge a diagnostic fee and is telling me it could be the headlight switch, which seems odd considering the timing.
From what I understand the illumination level is controlled by a Pulse-Width Modulated output from the EMIC on the panel lamps driver circuit. The EMIC controls the Pulse-Width Modulated output based upon the panel lamps dimmer setting (resistance range) input from the headlamp switch.
Does anyone have any experience with the dash backlight LEDs flickering? I only notice the gauges flickering and not the electronic information panel in the center.
