The fold down cup holders in my 2012 are crap. If I put a cup of any size in them it rubs on the lower portion if the dash. I've already got several fine scratches on the dash from it.

I've found an add on cup holder for 2008 & earlier models that has a tab that locks under the armrest lid. Has anyone found anything similar for the 4th gens? Any other ideas?

Get the arm rest from a '13 it has 3 cupholders built into it.

^ Exactly. If you happen to go this route and order one, be sure to specify auto trans., as the 2013 manual trans. armrest will be same as what you already have (no cup holders).

I saw a couple of those for sale on eBay but wasn't sure if they'd be a direct bolt on or not.

They are a direct swap, besides for some wiring. It will be required to undo some of the upholstery to disconnect the wiring from inside the armrest.

Thanks Corbin. My current armrest doesn't have any power to it so I'm not sure if I even have the connections I'd need to hook up the USB & 12V connectors if I bought one from a '13.

True, I didn't even consider that fact even though I have an express, haha. Well you may consider running at least the 12v if you do a swap.

the only complaint i have about the armrest with the cup holders is that it sits lower than than the 12's with out. I don't know what it is maybe its a shallower storage space but i find myself reaching farther from the armrest to the wheel on my 13 than i do on my 12.

I ended up ordering this one: Dodge Ram Cup Holder for '03-'05, '06-'09 Non-Sport trucks.-Geno's Garage

It showed up today and I just installed it according to the directions. It was a pretty straight forward install but still wouldn't latch, even after I shimmed the latch as recommended. I ended up removing some material from the cup holder around the latch release handle and that did the trick.

Not as nice as a factory unit but better than any other aftermarket options I could find. I'm pleased with it.

It's a relatively useless little tray they put in the cheap models. (I have a Tradesman)

Its bolted to the floor. My express didn't have one so I bought it and just wedged it to the middle portion of the seat. Wanted to be able to remove it if I had a middle passenger up front. It sits pretty tight.

It appears to be a separate piece but I haven't really looked all that close. It has a rubber insert that fits into it and there are two screws under it. I assume that's all that's holding it in place.

Actually, if you have a 4-door cab with 40/20/40 front seats and auto transmission, you will have the tray. This tray covers a duct union for the rear climate control vents.

The new cupholders look good!

No manual transmission in the 1500s, only the heavy duty. So if the dealer did a search by vin or trim level then there would be no issue
