Has anyone had to repair/replace the manual seat recline on the front passenger seat? 2017 Ram 1500 Big Horn, I was installing my new Wet Okole seat covers and to put on the seat back cover you have to place the seat back fully forward to push the seat cover through. Seat bottomed threads a strap between the seat cloth and seat plastic base moulding. Pretty sure I didnt push or damage anything threading it down and under, but when I went to recline the seat back it won't move and there is no resistance in the lever. Spring back still attached and I can see the linkage move underneath when the lever is actuated. Think it has come disconnected at the star gear on the seat back. Dealer service rep him-and-haw about it might to be under warranty implying I broke it being rough on it. May end up repairing myself depending on the price and technical difficulty in repair. I'm fairly handy, but more limited on tools and workspace than skill. Any comments, tips, lookouts? Would be greatly appreciated,
Morty

Hi morty40oz,

Let us know how you decide to proceed. We can certainly follow up with the dealership as well--we can't promise a completely different outcome regarding the issue with it being under warranty, but will definitely follow up if you'd like us to do so!

That's a load of crap, no way that just by putting the seat back all the forward while installing a seat cover should it ever break.... I'd do my business with a different Dealership if mine ever said something that stupid.

Yeah my jaw dropped at his attitude and the exchange was in fact more than I posted here, but I have an appointment for them to look at it tomorrow so I'll give them the chance to make it right first. But if I feel like they are not being honest or try to say I broke it, I'll be sure to let @Kori know.

Got it back from the dealer, no charge to fix the seatback, even though they do still think I broke it putting the seat cover strap through. Still not quite sure on the that one, and I think they agreed to fix it because it's a little weakly-built to break so easy but that should be the last time for a good long while I mess with it. Anyway, actually got some great customer service from a different person than the one that set up my appt. and I will definitely be going back based this employee. And now I have a service rep I can go through every time I need work now. Still would love to hear if anyone has fixed one of these assemblies themselves if you come across this thread.

Cheers,
Morty
