1st timer here. Just bought a 2015 Ram Big Horn crew Cab V6 this past weekend. Anyone know what the bump in the middle of the floor in the back seat of the 2015 Ram 1500 Crew Cabs is for and why it is there? Almost makes the middle seat useless for an adult since it is smaller and the floor is higher. Just an odd design alltogether, but still couldn't let that steer me towards the new F-150's!

Did some searches and couldn't find squat.

Agreed, drive shaft, but I never thought it was that bad as far as intrusion into the cab.

Interesting. It is an odd design that they wld raise the floorboard in order to accomodate the driveshaft. Is the Ram's driveshaft bigger than normal so they had to raise up the floor to fit?

Most rear wheel drive vehicles have this hump. I haven't been in all the brands of trucks, but all the ones I have been in had the hump. I am definitely certain it isn't a unique deal for the ram brand.

I was also looking at the F150 and didnt see any bump in the back seat. My old 2011 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab didnt have it either. I have noticed it in other older trucks though.

This is what I was talking about. It is in both the RWD and 4x4 Rams. Looks like it is the driveshaft

Until the recently with the latest Ford F-150 models, transmission/driveshaft humps have been common in full size trucks. I would suspect eventually in the years ahead, it will go away in RAM and Chevy.

Remember, these truck bodies are stamped for multiple platforms. The larger/longer trucks have a intermediate shaft before the final driveshaft, hence the "tunnel".

It's like this on almost every rear wheel drive car/truck I've ever seen.
