Cabin Air Filter Mod

So I was looking at this and figured it's gotta be a good one. Seen the kits. Watched the videos. Looks really simple. Haven't ordered anything yet.

Just went outside and popped the glovebox off and looked to see how much space I will have to cut the opening. Well dang I was surprised when there's a door cover already installed! Cutting not needed. Open it up and still no filter haha.

Anyone else have the door factory equipped? And what's the size of these filters?

I believe they started late 2016 installing the cutout and cover then started including the air filter in 2017....

Yes, you're correct stimpy. Some 2016 models have the cover and cutout already done. My 2017 did have the filter. I did this mod on my 2015 and bought the filter from Amazon for less than $15.00. Here's a link...

^^^What stimpy stated. I have two neighbors with Ram 1500s. With my '15 I had to cut out the opening and buy the door/filter. Neighbor with the '16 had the door installed from the factory, but no filter the other neighbor with the '17 has the door and filter from the factory.

There is 6 Rams total(3 are older, '09-'13) on my immediate block, and two more that are regular visitors.

well i live in ford country, but it seems like few folk are switching from ford to chevy. haven't spoken to the new chevy owners to ask why.

I have about 7 other neighbours with rams on my block. I have a 16 Sport. Brother has a 04 SLT and direct neighbour(practically shared driveway) a 16 Laramie in the same red pearl as mine.

Kinda wish they were nice enough to have never stopped putting the cabin filters in. Atleast though for those of us who don't have it, it's possible to install them.

Edit: did a count on the way home today. 18 rams mostly 4th gen. 4 3rd gens and 1 2nd gen. this among the many other mopar guys on the block. 3 challengers 1 of which is a hellcat. Couple chargers then many other various vehicles. But mopar is king in my neighbourhood apparently.

2017 is the first year RAMs are coming with cabin filters. Now the cabin filter mod is easy to do from the dealer on the 4th Gen trucks as all you have to do is go to the dealer and buy a door and filter for a '17. I just did it tonight on my '13 in 10-15 minutes...very easy. :happy107:

Damn, I'll have to go look at mine, I didn't think it had one. Do you have any idea what the part number is for the filter? I'll have to check it out but I don't think there's a cabin air filter listed for it.
