I don't have the console vault, but I have a $20 safe and it's mounted in such way that you cant get it open without drilling the lock or bringing tools. I never use it unless I'm in a 30.06 or 51% area, otherwise I have it on me.

I have one made by Lock'er Down. Made in USA just like Console Vault and is pretty much the same exact product. I have had 1 other Lock'er Down safe and a Console Vault in previous cars and they both are great. Same prices for both companies. Installs in minutes. I have a 4 digit combo on mine. I wish the price wasn't so high for them. It holds quite a bit. If you get rid of your truck you can easily resell it.

Wish they didn't take up the whole console. Just need enough room for a gun. Guy on one of the other forums was making some about half height. With a pad on top you never even knew it was there. Unfortunately, he quit making them.
