Hey guys. I have a new 2016 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi with about 2,500 miles on it. Pretty much since I got it (or shortly after) it has made a small rattle on the front passenger side when I go over bumps in the road. It isn't much, but after enough drive time now it is beginning to annoy me.

Is this something that is common with these Rams? Any ideas what it might be? It almost sounds like it is coming from inside the door or near the wheel well/glove box area. Not really sure. Just a small rattle when I hit a bump in the road.

I had exact same issue. Went away for a while. Came back then went away again. Never figured it out. Around same milage. One thing to check through. Make sure it's not passenger seat belt hitting the plastic. That happens sometimes too.

Hi jschwanke84,

If you decide to visit your local dealership for diagnosis I would recommend offering to do a test drive with a technician. In my experience this can often help them diagnose your concern easier and faster. Let me know if you have any additional questions!

I had a similar rattle and forgot about a hitch safety pin I had put in the glove box. Great relief when I found it.

In case anyone is interested, I finally took it into the dealer after having no luck diagnosing the issue. They have pinpointed it to somewhere in the dash and are having to remove the dash to find the exact source and fix it. Say it could be as simple as a loose bolt causing something to rattle, but won't know for sure until they find the exact cause.

Obviously a random thing as it doesn't sound common based on what I have read on the forums. But I'm a little disappointed in the quality control here. Oh well. It will be fixed by tomorrow hopefully.

Might want to look into this before you pull the dash = http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=126605

Well they pulled the dash and found the issue to be a loose PCM bracket which was causing the whole thing to rattle when going over bumps. They tightened it down and I drove home and back to work today over some rough roads where it always would make loud rattling sounds and I didn't hear a thing. All good!

I just crossed 3k miles and just started hearing a rattling on the drivers side. Sounds like it is from the front dash area mainly by that front left grille area. It is only at highway speeds and is driving me crazy.

I am hesitant to take it in bc half the time it is made worse when they try to fix it and I rarely trust shops to work on my stuff.

Isn't the pcm bracket on outside firewall? Not under dash. Mine does same and I changed sway bar links incase and ripped everything apart on dash except removed ip completely lol. Before I do this looks like I'll have to get under truck to check for any loose frame bolts rack bolts etc...not fun
