How do you open up the guage cluster? Also how to remove air vents?

So i came across this Ram on google images and since im swapping in a center console next week, i figured i really like the small amount of red so before i swap in the console, im going to paint some of my interior to match this pictures interior. Im doing all of the red accents exactly the same as these photos.

I wont be doing the carbon fiber in the middle radio bezel, instead the outside "lines" that are sometimes silver on some trucks, will be vinyl wrapped in gloss black, as will the side areas of the center console that are silver in some trucks.

My question is, how would i go about opening the gauge cluster to paint the trim inside of it? Is it even possible to open it up without breaking it?

How do i remove the air vents on the far sides of the dash? Near the doors. Do they just "pop" out with a panel tool?

And how do i remove the plastic trim around the steering wheel buttons?

I really love how this looks and after i paint all of this, im thinking a Ram Rebel console lid (black with red stitching) would really top it all off. I already have the center console wrapped with the black vinyl and i also have a leatherseats.com wheelskins wheel wrap that i need to put on but i figured id do it when i do the console swap.

Well i just came across this on Carid.com so im going to assume you can open up the cluster to install these:

https://www.carid.com/2012-ram-1500...daytona-edition-gauge-face-kit-121247637.html

Im actually going to order that exact cluster overlay and paint the silver rings red like the photo. Should look awesome.

That's a 2009-2012. Not the same. The gauge faces are a part of the cluster, but the rings and the lens are all one permanently sealed piece. It would be difficult to paint.

I have a picture somewhere, I'll post it if I find it.

I have a 2012 lol.. thats my exact cluster. And i just found a thread over on Another forum where a bunch of members have installed these exact overlays. There is a write up/how to on removing the gauges and installing the overlays. One member even removed the chrome trim rings from his new overlays and painted them red just like i want to do.

So it can be done, it looks like im ordering one of these overlays in silver with red lettering and ill be painting the chrome trim rings red aswell.

Does anyone have any information on how to remove the air vents that are near each door on the dash? The drivers side has the headlight switch and the passenger side has a cubby hole under it. Im just not sure if theu just pop out or if other parts must be removed first to access some kind of bolt or screw holding them in.

So now that i know for a fact i can open the cluster very easily and i have a how-to guide, that problem is solved.

Now i just need to figure out how to get the side vents off and the pieces on the steering wheel.

Its cool. Ar first glance it sorta looks like a 13+ cluster but it is in fact an 09-12 cluster with the evic and 6 gauges.

Vents are easy to remove...use a panel tool, and start at the top of the piece... pry that loose and pop it out. The driver ls side is one assembly.

Ok cool. Thats what i wasnt sure about, if they just popped out with a panel tool or required other panels to be removed first to gain access to bolts or screws. Good to know they just pop right out. Should be relatively easy to do all of this painting as the radio bezel and center console are already off the truck because i havnt installed them yet and the vents im guessing i can pop off in 2 minutes.

Will come back and update with pictures when im done.

On the illuminated gauges the dials look all out of alignment?

Just my opinion but it looks like the interior of a 17 year olds riced out Honda Civic

Sometimes less is more

Hey dont look too bad compared to the OEM gauges.

I woupd never ever order the red, blue, orange or yellow ones... way to ugly. Id ever only consider ordering the white or silver one. The white ones resemble my old 06 Rams guages.
