There's only one way to remove it. You have to take out the whole center stack with the radio bezel, vents, etc. included and then remove the screws from the back of the switch bank.

Oh wow! That sounds intense! Do you happen to know how to do that or is there a write-up I could follow?

I don't have my center console installed yet so I might be missing a part here. It's really easy on the trucks without consoles.

For yours, it should be:
-Remove rubber mat from tray at front of console
-Remove two screws under mat
-Pull off console top
-Pull off console front side pieces
-Remove screw from cubby by inverter outlet
-Remove rubber mat from tray above radio
-Remove two screws under mat
-Pull off center stack piece

Check out the 8.4 upgrade threads. There's pictures in there.
