I have had terrible issues with my ignition switch lock not disengaging for quite a while now, i have been fed up with it for a while so i finally disassembled everything around the shifter to find the issue. well the issue is a very cheap microswitch installed that if moved in the slightest the wrong way it will not trigger the ground signal to unlock the ignition, so i removed and disassembled the switch but found no external issues, so i have put in a temporary solution to test for a while, if i have no issues, ill disassemble everything again to make a permanent solution.

Amazing that on Trucks and cars that range from 30 to 50k$ they cheapen up on a ignition switch, :O Chevy did that a few years ago and had a major recall, cost them a ton of $$$ to fix and a few people even died because the ignition failed while they were driving and caused a accident!
Interesting read Thanks

Just to add to this thread for future use by people searching for a cure. My 2014 also would not go to the off position to release the key. After installing a new WIN or ignition module or ignition switch (Rock auto $73.00 mopar part). All are the same component it seems but goes by a few names. The dealer programed the fobiks to the new switch. I mounted the new one but left the old one hanging from the wire to drive it there then switched the plug to the new one so it could be programed to the Fobiks. When I got home I disassembled the old WIN ( 2 torx screws and a couple snaps ) to see what broke. There is an electric motor that rotates the lock so it will turn to the off position so fobik can be removed . I found two wires out in the open that power the motor and the blue one was off. I resoldiered it and it is now my back up. Had I done this first I would of been back on the road in 10 minutes start to finish and a few more bucks in my pocket instead of Rock auto and the dealer.
