Any of you guys removed the trim ring around the fobik or starter button? Mine spins freely but there isn't really enough slop in the fit to try and pop it off. I don't wanna break it by trying to pry it if that's not the intended way.

I have a small piece of silver carbon fiber that I want to wrap it with.

I have the push button start and if you take the panel off that is below the steering wheel the trim ring is attached to that and the push button is separate. So I believe once that is done you could pop the trim ring out from behind the panel

Thanks. I'll have to give it a better look tomorrow. Gotta damn near be a contortionist to get under there with a floor console!

It's really not that bad. I have the center console too. From sitting on a stool on the drivers side there are two screws to take out on the bottom, then it's all just clips holding it on I'm pretty sure

Yep. Two screws on the bottom. Pull straight towards the seat and the clips will release. After that. You'll see exactly what needs to happen for it to come off

Well, I got the panel off and the trim ring out with no problem. Unfortunately, the way that ring looked wrapped in silver carbon fiber just didn't look like I had envisioned, so I peeled it off and I'm back to thinking again.

I had originally thought painting it bright red, because it would really pop against the black dash. I may go back to that.

did it not look good because the ring is for the most part is thin so you couldn't really get the carbon fiber affect?

I think that's what it was, yes. I've got plenty of time, I'll figure out something.

Paint would probably be your best option. Now that you've brought it up, I might have to try it.

I'm thinking paint only because I didn't see anything else in a vinyl wrap type of medium. Too bad tritium is so expensive!

The piece I used was 3m di-noc. It seemed kinda thick. Maybe something thinner and a smaller pattern would work.

Scrap is what I used too. It's too bad because I really like the look and pattern of the di-noc.
