I want to put some led stripes by the floor boards and that's not the hard part. My question is: I want the light to kick in when I open the door like the dome lights and fade out also like the dome lights but I want them to turn on when I spin the dial to turn on the dome lights. So basically I want them to operate off the same as the dome lights. Where do I hook up the wires?

Looking at the schematic, the door latch tells the tipm the door is open, the tipm tells the cluster and it relays from there on the yel/wht signal wire to the courtesy lights. Tapping into that yel/wht wire should power them whenever the courtesy lamps are on

Can you tie into the wiring harnesses that are already down in the foot well area?

You should be able to, just make sure you shrink tube and protect everything since the footwell is subject to moisture and you don't want to cause harm to the fa Tory wiring.

It should be that simple, but with newer can-bus lighting it's isn't always that simple. My reccomendation would be to make the splice in a spot where you have plenty of wire to repair it if it doesn't work. Make a temporary connection, ensure it doesn't overload the circuit or cause any issues, then you can hardwired and finalize everything once you've kinda got a proof-of-concept.

Easier of you use tap connectors! Then you don't need to cut the wires!

No I didn't tap them. Tapping a wire is a lazy quick fix.

I just tapped into the front footwell light. I couldn't find the wire that runs to the rear dome light so I ran a wire under the doorsills up to under the steering wheel and tapped into the stock footwell light wire there. (I did the OEM footwell lighting installation mod) I've never had a problem with t-taps.

That's cool! Was it a pain in the a** to run the wires through the seats? Or, do you have them hidden somewhere else? Pretty clever the way you did that.

It was kinda tough getting the LED strips up and through the small slits I made in the bottom of the seat cover. Once I got them through I just ran the wire down towards the back in the drivers side corner and then under the fabric on the bottom of the storage area. I went down to the bottom (where the hard hat is) and up and over the lip and down into the door sill. I tried to illustrate how I ran the wires in the picture.

Moreovalteenplz, I see you have '13 Express. Did you add that rear dome light? My '13 Express has the center overhead dome light, but I am thinking of finding a way to add one to the rear like yours.
