Hi..

Recently when I take my truck and start it.
It starts up and 5-10sec after it knocks 5-10times behind the radio?
What is going on? It have been doing this for 2-3 days...

This only happens when I start it up, then it's quiet...?

It sounds like someone is knocking on your window..

Anyone got a clue what causes this?

Hi Andrea..

thanks for your reply. So this is not normal by any means?
So there is a solution for it then?

Don't know if we have a dealership here?
Is there a replacement part that you know have a problem?

Since you work for Dodge, who is the dealership here in sweden close to gothenburg?

Hi Mike,

My colleagues and I do not have mechanical backgrounds so we rely on our dealerships for official diagnostic advice. Unfortunately I didn't realized you were located outside of the United States, if you need further assistance you can reach our International Customer Care Team by phone at 00800-36343-000 or email at [email protected].

I'll see if I can contact Fiat here in sweden to see if they can point any fingers to who I schould contact...?

Funny thing, took the truck today. Started it up and yes there where knocking. The first two times but third and fourth time there none. Let's see if it "fixed" IT self?

I'll get back tomorrow...

Thanks for your answer..

Hi again...

Now what? It's so quiet now... it fixed itself? It's been quiet now for 2 days?
If it was the blend doors on the heater that was self adjusting as gypsy400 said.

Could this sound return from time to time?
What about you other guys? Does your ram do this every time or from time to time?

Yes that's a very common problem with our trucks especially the older gen 3 and early 4. If the blend door is broken, there is a 30$ fix but it's a bit*h to do. The whole dash has to be unbolted and pulled back to access the plenum. I have to do mine so im going to replace all four of them so no future problems cause I'm only going to pull the dash once thats it. Good luck bud.

Hi SYKRAMMAN

Ooops that sound like a lot of work... I totally understand why you want to change all of them..

If it's not to much work for you? Could you a description with photos etc.. on how you did it? And hopefully admin would make it a sticky since this seems like a common problem. And some of us could use a helping description of the amount of work and where everything is located? :artist1:

I think everyone who has this problem would like if you do?

Hello,

From what I have read this is a very common problem for our early 4th gen rams. I have a 09 1500. If you have the center console then it will be tedious but if you have the middle seat then this is a piece of cake. There are a ton of videos on line about this. Mine is currently doing this. It's caused by chipped gear teeth. I ordered part number 604-002 This is the one in the glove box. The one you are looking for is 604-005. This part is located right under your hvac controls. I'm currently waiting for my order to come in from advanced auto. 30 bucks and your done. Shoot me a personal message if you have any issues and I will see if I can help!.

Hi Samcassidy

Thanks... I'll get bak to you when I'm going to do this... to bad I have the centerconsol...

I noticed that this knocking sound only comes on IF the hvac is blowing on the front window. Otherwise IT doesn't sound anything at all.

My is a 1500 09 so It's the same as yours..

Most of the time it is just an actuator cheap and easy fix pull the radio bezel And Cup holder if you don't have a console and you will see the actuators you can feel them to see which one it is
