I was looking for a good solid magnetic cell phone mount for the truck after a guy at work introduced me to his Amazon special he had I was sold on the magnetic mounts. I searched Amazon and found a few that looked decent and then I stumbled onto the MOB Armor mount and decided to give it a shot despite the $40 price tag.

Got it in today and this thing is stout! Attaches with a metal plate adhered to the back of the phone and a steel disk adhered to the dash. Magnets are damn strong. Super happy with it and was exactly what I was looking for. Low profile, rugged mount, that was gonna mount exactly where I wanted it, hold up to long term use and not look like gaudy junk.

Time will tell how long it lasts but I think it's gonna be good to go for awhile.

Thats the same place I mounted my phone. Same type of mount, but mine it with a suction as the base, but magnet for the phone holder.

Looks good there. Think there is any chance it could scratch the metal surface?

The magnets on the mount itself are covered in a rubber. No scratching so far. I always had bad luck with cell phone mounts, everyone I've owned has broken. This seemed like a very simple sturdy solution.

Also there are 2 models the elite model is the one that allows it to tilt the full 90 degrees

It does look like a good solution. What made me wonder is experience with motorcycle tank bags being held on by magnets, usually ended up with scratches on the tank.

Would this sit high enough to mount a radar detector? In Minnesota you can't Mount anything from your windshield.

I've looked a few mounts similar to this. They would work great with my RokForm phone case, which already has a magnet in it. I'm currently using a Koomis K2 mount in that same location, but I like the idea of magnet mounting.

I have a Iottie phone holder sticky suction cup mounted in the same location.
Works perfectly and holds my S8+ withut any problem.
