I installed the Aliengear mount for paddle holster.. it's not in the way, but well in reach.. there was drilling involved.. but worth it in my mind..

Just received my Tac-Mag gun magnet from Amazon. When the weather isn't pure crap I'll get around to mounting it on the dash. Not a huge magnet, pretty subtle, but strong enough that it holds on to my Ruger SR1911 CMD with one in the chamber, and a full Chip McCormick 8 Round mag. I'll post some pics when I get it installed.

This is what I have. Same idea, clip on the side of the holster, however I put a wide velcro strip on the holster and on the console to keep the holster from moving, then made a black cloth cover for it so you could not see the gun through the window or when you opened the door. The cover has a small dowel on the top that goes behind the holster into the console and has a couple small magnets on the end to hold it down over the gun.

The video you posted shows the holster sliding forward, backward, and lifting until the belt hook catches at the top of map pocket lip. It as also dependent on having a center console.

Forward and backward movement only happen when I'm literally moving it with my hand, before holstering the pistol. Once holstered, the weight of the pistol holds the holster in place (the seat also prevents backwards movement)

The slight lift before catching is a non-issue, IMO. What matters is that it catches. I also use a SnagMag (magazine holster) which employs the same concept of a "snag draw."

Dependence on a center console is a good point though. Thanks for sharing your setup.

I have the exact same setup and mounted in the same space. I carry my Ruger SR9c there. Can not be seen from outside of the truck. I also have an IWB holster, so sometimes I just switch from the gun from the paddle holster to the IWB.

I have a similar holster to what you posted that I carry a subcompact in in the appendix position. I like that you can take the pistol/holster out and snap it onto your center console quickly. For short trips and around town travel yours is a good solution. It's one of the instances I wish I had a center console.

Pistol looks fairly elevated...enough for the passenger to see? I prefer a bit more concealability, but nice setup either way!

I do the same thing.. just depends on what i have planned for the day with the IWB.

the passenger can see it, but it was the best place i could think of and still be out of the way of my knee.. my windows are a dark limo tint so seeing inside the truck is never an issue..

Great idea - thanks for posting it! I copied it for my new truck.

Loose holsters are pretty unappealing. Other than cost it is just cheap.

Here is the no-drill system I came up with, just remove the M8 seat bolt and install the Ram 1" M8 ball.

Dara custom kydex holster
Ram 1" M8 ball
Ram 6" arm

You can adjust the mount to point sights forward for center console trucks. This is a solid mount, no movement or rattling. I throw a beanie over the pistol to reduce visibility when I want.

You just solved my dilemma.

Awesome work.

That is beautiful. Where is a good source for the ball and arm setup?

I love this made up WW2 quote!

Personally, I love it too because even though it may have been made up that didn't negate the truth of the statement.
