Not sure if I'm the only one who isn't a fan of the upper tanish color interior pieces, but has anyone painted their pillars? Thinking of taking this project on but was looking for some ideas of what a full finished job looks like. Plasti dipped a pillar to try to get the idea.c2bd708a2530dfc7d5e47b9d83dde1e0.jpg

If you don't want to buy entirely new ones I dyed my entier interior black using vinyl dye. if you prep it properly you get a long lasting finish, if you don't prep it properly you'll get either spots that rub or flake off. The Duplicolor vinyl dye works fine for this, I used a professional brand from the body supply store I frequent but it's not neccessary.

How does the black look? I've been annoyed with the tan since I bought it and wanted to match the top to the bottom. My express interior looks like a dark gray to me not black though. Was debating on taking some kind of fabric die possibly and coloring in the headliner too

Here's my 3rd gen that I dyed. All the black plastic started off as the 3rd gen 3-tone Dark grey, ligh grey accents, and tan upper pillars.

And I also covered my headliner in suede

Looks great! Big question is how much of a PITA was the headliner?

Reg cabs it's easy; quad cabs you need to either pull the front seats or fold the liner to get it out the front doors; crew cabs you HAVE to pull it through the windshield.

I have a CC so I won't be messing with the headliner. I'm ok with that for the most part. Kind of a out of sight kind of thing

So Duplicolor makes a paint for this, used it many times. The best thing is it is very forgiving, no runs or streaks. The bad news is it is like powder and is hard to keep off other areas when spraying. it is best to get the piece out and paint it. But I have done entire interiors with the stuff. When you put wear on it, just re=do it. Super simple. You can even paint fabric or plastic/vinyl.

More of a matte finish as opposed to that sweet orange above, that is a great job.

Here's one after pic, monsta lined the tub, duplicolored the plastic and headliner. That panel was trashed, 15 years of rode hard and wheeling. Looked nearly new after. The panel was the color of the seatbelt, notice the plastic at the bottom of the seat belt. Then you see the new color on the panel.

Did any models come with gray or was it just the black pillars? Or are the only options the limited or rebel black? If so anywhere I can look to find the pillars?
