The salesman told me that this is not a popular option in the northern climates. Is there any truth to this or should I order one?

Don't know why it wouldn't be. If you're ordering why not just go for it if you want it.

I had a 2011 without it up until I sold it a few weeks ago. Last winter I was driving and the whole back window was covered up with show from driving. I decided I would order it on my next one just because of that lol. Its only like $200 so why not? Definitely doesn't hurt to have!

I don't have. Thought I would miss it, but I really don't. Not even after last winter.

They may have figured it out by now, but back in 2012, you couldn't get a rear slider, or a sunroof, if you wanted the rear defroster. Fortunately I didn't want either one, so I got the defroster. I use the heck out of it here in Ohio during the winter.

This boggles my mind why they couldn't figure this out.

Thought I would miss it, since I've always had one on my cars, but any dew that's own the back window just gets washed off once I move from the dew on the roof..

Don't get snow here, so no worries about that..

After seeing this post I emailed my dealer and asked if the truck I had on order with a rear defrost also had a sliding window and he said it had both. So must have just been 2012 and older trucks

My CC doesn't have it. I thought I would miss it, but I haven't. Even on northern Ontario when it does get frosted, I direct my two centre vents upwards and to the back, when the air coming from them is warn, the rear window defrosts in minutes. Plus I prefer the look without the defrost lines.

Wish I had one last winter. Snow would whip around the cab and stick to the back window when going down the highway.

i see lots of snow and honestly not having a rear defrost on a truck has never bothered me too much. they generally have less space so your heater can usually do the job just fine but a bit slower. also i noticed my 2014 has plenty of vents in the back so that should really help too

i concur with my fellow Ontarians, i prefer the sliding window to the rear defroster. the heating vents set at an upward angle will defrost all windows in no time..and i cant imagine owning a truck without a sliding rear window.

I have the power rear slider on my 2010 CC. No defrost. Don't miss it at all.

You can have the rear slider and the defroster here in the US on the '13-'14 Ram 1500's. I live in Nebraska and didn't order the rear defrost on my '13 Big Horn and don't miss having it.

it's worth noting a tonneau can make a huge difference in winter too. most of the snow that gets on the rear window while driving is from snow piled up in the bed so either having a cover or cleaning it out will eliminate most of it

Our new 2014 Laramie has both rear defroster and power sliding rear window.
