my steering wheel is far out of center on my truck after plowing one storm. ONE. and im fairly disappointed in this. 2014 ram 2500 with 6.4... the clock position after the storm was pointing about 9 oclock. now, its closer to 7, counter clockwise, so its getting worse over the course of 3 days.. it did not happen as a consequence of plowing, as i didnt hit any curbs or islands, and dont do much plowing. i did notice it after the city plows went and made a few passes, it was like driving over a rumble strip on the highway, on main city streets. i have equal steering lock to lock, one and a half turns each way, and the truck tracks straight, no pull either way so the alignment seems fine. my question is where do i start? could it have jumped splines in the column? how about the steering box? i have never had this happen to any truck of mine, and ive never done any steering or suspension work to the truck yet so im looking for a starting point. i only bought the truck a month ago, but before i take it to the dealer i would like to know whats going on. i did research this, and im not the only one, but there was no definitive answer. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I know you stated the truck doesn't pull but taking it in for an allignment check, they may set you straight for free. Worth a try.

Good luck.

Take it in, especially if it is getting worse as you drive it. The drag link could be loose.

The lock nuts came loose on the arm that goes from the steering linkage to the tie rods. I had this same thing happen to mine about 3500 miles after an alignment from doing my level kit. There are lock nuts on both sides of the adjuster that lengthens and shortens the arm with a nut on both sides of it. I could turn both nuts and the adjuster by hand. If those nuts come loose or didn't get tight enough after an alignment like mine, it will put the steering wheel off center counter clockwise and will get worse as you drive. The adjuster just needs to be turned to recenter the steering wheel and retighten the lock nuts. I suppose you could have had a piece of ice get flung up and hit one of the lock nuts just right to knock it loose.

got a minute last week to get under the truck. lock nuts were loose and adjuster had moved. set it back to where it should be. tightened up and good so far. would like to take it in for an alignment to be sure, but all seems well for now. thanks
