I just finished the cabin filter mod and all went relatively well. However I cheaped out and bought the C25869 filter element ( thats also mentioned in the write ups). I found the filter went in alright but once in it felt squished and compressed somewhat, I had to cut about half an inch off on side. Still when fully inserted the area visible when the snap on lid covers off shows a kink in the middle of the filter.

Did they change the width of the hole in the 2015? Or is there a slight variance in the sizes of the compatible filters?

It's been a while, but IIRC the filter isn't quite square. Sure it didn't go in sideways?

I did the mod a couple months ago. The filter did go in there a bit snug, but it went in without kinking or cutting it.

I used Mopar filter 5058693AA

I also use this filter, I get it on Amazon. Good filter for the money IMO.

I'm gonna check mine every 15k miles. My fan blower motor was already accumulating dirt at 3.5k miles with no filter.

I change mine every August after the pollen is done in my area. Seems to work pretty well and it catches a ton of dirt, dust, and pollen.

AFAIK, none of the 4 gen models have a cabin air filter from the factory. Purpose of the mod as with any vehicle with a actual factory cabin air filter, is to keep dust, dirt and debris from clogging up the A/C evaporator core. Changing the evaporator core is pretty time consuming and involves taking the whole dash out for access. This mod if done properly, should prolong or eliminate that situation.

The evap core is a pita to replace in most vehicles. This is the first of several videos showing the procedure for replacing it in a 4th gen Ram:

The cabin air filter is a relatively easy and cheap way to help prevent having to go through this.

Easy mod and filter slid right in. Waiting for the need to change it out then probably going with the one from K&N (VF2013)

does anyone know why the 2015 did not come with a cabin filter, did ram change something to not need one ? Seems odd if they worked or had a need for one they would just stop doing it.

No 4th gen's have had them, only reason they don't have them from factory I can assume is cost savings.
