In my nearly 19 years of driving I have never shut a vehicle with an automatic off while in gear.. until I bought this truck. I live 2 houses in off a main road and I back my vehicles in. On more than one occasion now I've had somebody come flying around the corner and as I go to quickly shift in R either the AC gets shut off or the volume to the stereo. I love the truck but damn is that a dumb design considering how many other knobs are in close proximity to the shift knob.

I'm not a fan cuz it moves too easy. I think they should have put a button in the middle of it for Park instead of rotating it to park. Just a safety issue IMHO. I prefer lever on the column like my old truck.

Hated it for the first week, only because I kept reaching for my lever to find nothing but air! Got over it after a week....

A couple times I've reached to put it into reverse and turned the blower on or vice versa.

Can't get in, turn the key to on put it into neutral and do a rolling start.

I wish it was mounted on the console instead f the instrument panel, that would make everyone happier imho and get it away from all those other switches and knobs.

I dont like that I can't throw it in N without turning the truck on.
Use the manual neutral over ride, it in the removable lower panel below the headlights switch.

Moves too easy? I haven't really had that problem. Mine will not move freely unless you have enough brake pedal in. I like the dial.

I like the Dial Shifter, but sometimes I do feel nostalgic and miss the column shifter. It's nice though, cleans up the interior quite a bit and makes detailing easier.

I shouldn't post on this thread because I can't answer your question.

After 40 years of driving with a column shifter, it took me 2 days after I picked up my Ram to forget they ever existed. I think the dial shifter (knob) plays into the audio/video/computer geek in me, all of which have knobs and no column type switches. I felt right at home the day I drove my truck off the lot 2 months ago, knob in fingers.

I got used to it now and don't mind it much, still think a floor/console shifter would be nice.

With that said, I am really OK with it now. The little +/- buttons on the steering wheel should be replaced with shift paddles. My wife's BMW has them and they are nice.

When I drive my wifes car I keep reaching for the radio knob to put it in gear. Guess I'm used to it now.

Exactly.

I've had my truck for 15 months and I still have to look for it.

I'm getting use to it but I find it is far to easy to miss park. Fortunately I only got out of the truck once with it in reverse. I wish we had a choice.

I like it, and the wife did to. So to avoid issues with her car, we bought a Durango with the 8sp!
