Was wondering if anyone has a viofo 118 or 119 installed on the back window area. Already have one up front and ordered one for the rear and was thinking where to put it on vertical back window.
Cheers

I have one waiting to be installed. I am going to install it dead center under the 3rd brake light so I can see mt 5th wheel hitch. I read that there was a 12+ wire in the drivers side C pillar but I doubt it will be there on my Tradesman. At a minimum I will run a temporary extension to the 12V acc outlet on the dash until I get time to work on all of the wiring projects I have piling up.

Im wondering if the black trim above the window can be used in relation to the shape of the viofo camera.
I was thunking about running the USB cable for power from the cam via passanger side c piller then above the rear door rubber window frame then down seat belt trim area and under carpet to enter the back part of the center console. I have a 4 port power hub hardwired inside the center console which i can connect the power to cam which currently the front viofo is connected to.

Here is a pic of my camera installed temporarily. The power connector is at a weird angle and the camera would not sit flat to the glass. I ordered a right angle USB-B adapter so I could put the camera as close to the top as possible. If you want to install the cam behind one of the head rests then you could use that plastic piece but the camera would be about 4" from the top of the glass. I also checked the C Pillar and there is a pink with yellow tracer that stops at the connector. It is a 12V switched circuit. I ran the provided cable along the headliner and down the left C pillar then along the drivers back door trim to under the drivers seat. As it turns out there is a pink/yellow wire dead ending under the drivers gray seat plug. That is where I will permanently connect the rear CAM.

EDIT- I noticed you mention a black plastic piece above the window. I thought you meant the part that comes with the camera.

Here is the PIC:

Looks alright. Im going to have to decide to place mine left or right of back window, since ive got that center slider window on mine. I have some sort of plastic trim around but doubt i could attach it on that.

Ideally want the lense at the highest level poss.

UPDATE: I got the right angle adapter from Amazon and installed the CAM. With the 8' bed, that is most of what the CAM sees. I am going to remove the mount from the glass and install a 10* wedge to aim it up a little more. Will post pics when I get it done in the next few days.

Also my front CAM boots with the VIOFO logo but the new one just says WELCOME. They both look the same but being from China there are probably 20 manufacturers of the same product.

Dunno about that , getting 119S tomorrow for the back window install. The one up front is a A119 viofo, bought it about 9 months ago.

I went down the passanger side rear c pillar but got stuck with hiding one part of the wire.

Initially I tried to unclip the holders under the back seat storage area was about 8 clips as well as the rear cup holder. But I couldn't lift the truck carpet high enough to feed the usb power cable to my source which is inside the center armrest area up front.

Also would the 90 degree usb c thingy do anything for this mess? The one up front was an easier install i did many months ago.3691e2c509d1db154a3cf264ff762f8b.jpg42897f4f277258c799216935b99e5a8f.jpg195d3c9583a4926abea528b5c4aa3719.jpg

Duff camera, DOA. Capacitors dont work rendering the device to shut off immediately when truck is turned off. Which results in corrupt last written mp4 file. Rubbish.

Looking at that pic, it looks like you are using the non-GPS version. If you get the GPS version, it does with a mounting plate that has the USB port on it, and its on the "top" side of the camera, so you could eliminate your 90º adapter.

I too am trying to figure out how to mount one on the back window, but haven't ordered the camera yet. I do have the sliding rear glass, so I expect to mount it on the side the glass doesn't slide along.

Installed it earlier today and did some testing, so far just wired into the back 12 v socket and wont be hardwiring it til satisfied it works.

Also slight change in plan, I mounted it on the center back sliding window, not on the actual window pane but the frame above it.
It could be my imagination but the glass on either side of the center sliding glass seems to be curved.

Video posted of my recordings.
