So I just got some new Go Rhino side steps from CariD (you can check them out here: https://www.carid.com/go-rhino/dominator-d4-series-dual-step-side-steps.html).

Since I now have to get used to finding the step in the dark compared to just hopping in before, not a big deal, but I had the idea to wire up some small led lights under the doors to light up when I open the door.

So now the problem is I have no idea where to wire them to. On my ranger I had a detachable panel on the left side of the dash on the drivers' side that I would usually run interior lights to.

The important part is I would like them to come on when I open my door (or if I need to - when I unlock the truck).
So any idea where I can find the wire that goes to the cab dome lights that I can wire it into?

If anyone is interested, these are the lights I got: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EKPOG10/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1, I also picked up a non-contact voltage tester so I can test the wires to find it.

Tie them into the footwell lighting, that's what most people do. They will come on when you unlock your doors with the FOB and when the doors are open. If you don't have the footwell lighting you should still have the plugs for it tucked up just under the dash. I know there is a thread about adding the footwell lighting and it has pictures of the plugs you're looking for and locations. There are a couple of very good DIY threads on side step lighting on the board. Wish I could remember the titles of them. I talked to the author of one of them, when I did mine. You can either tap into the footwell wires or the cargo light wire.
