Ok fellow addicts, I've had my ram almost two weeks now and the itch is insatiable....

I'm running a 2015 sport crewcab, daily driver, lifted 6" w/37s, 3.92, and 8 spd. Current mods are vararam, 180 thermo, hemifever tune. Going to get LT and 87mm TB. My question, any thoughts on what this'll run in the quarter? More importantly, what do I need to do for my daily driver to get it in the 12's? Will cam/heads get me there? Or should I save up for a SC? Since it's a daily and I'm looking for everyday power, NOS isn't practical. Thanks in advance my fellow gear heads!

I know the 8spd does better with tall tires so you might not benefit from a different rear gearing but I'm interested to see what you run.

Buy a Cummins.

Ha, I was seriously contemplating, but the cost was a little more than I wanted to spend upfront. Then I saw the truck I bought and fell in love with it.

Post some pics. Im no engine builder but I don't think you could go 12s even with a super charger. Those size tires are just to big.

You didn't say it's a 4x4 so I assume it's a 2 wheel drive. After the throttle body and the long tubes I'd think your going to be in the mid 13's. I agree with others about the tires being the "killer". The heads and cam will surely help but I'm just not sure you're going to get into the 12's without a supercharger or turbocharger or funny gas. This is all IMHO. I may be wrong--I was once before, but that was in the late 40's LOL

It is 4x4 w/ 3.92. If I can get in the 12's or damn near close with cam/heads, that'll suffice. If not, I'll save up for a SC, slap it on and call it a day.

Thanks, that's why I'm not interested in smaller tires or getting a Cummins. If it's as simple as cam/heads, I may be able to swing it soon. If it's a supercharger, it's gonna be awhile.

Matt at Moe's Performance has more experience with doing mod's and racing than most of us on here. I'm sure he can give you some information and advice about what mod's will be the most successful in getting you to your goal. He has successfully campaigned one of the fastest N/A trucks in the nation using the performance parts he sells.

After you do the throttle body and headers get the tune updated :favorites13:

I'd love to see a lifted 4x4 crew cab in the 12s, ultimate sleeper :happy107:

You'd nearly spend as much on the heads/cam as you would on a procharger or a LPF single turbo setup. If you're doing it yourself, parts alone would be an upfront cost of about 4600-5500 for the heads/cam, with 1250-1800 being refunded as a core charge depending on who you buy the heads from. If you're not doing it yourself, labor will vary by area but I'd say that you're looking at 1500 minimum for install.

The procharger kits are around 6 grand. LPF turbo is 4500. Whipple 2.9 is 7 grand, all of which can be installed by yourself much easier than the heads/cam.

In the end, you will spend more on the forced induction, but I think for your purposes it would suit you better. Heads/cam would make more through midrange and up top, but not down low to get it moving. The Whipple, being a twin screw, would give you the best response and low end torque and all around power that would get it moving.

Great info! I didn't realize cam/heads would be so pricey. Sounds to me like the SC is the way to go for several reasons. I was looking at the Whipple and saw they got it dynoed at about 175hp gains. I seriously doubt even an aggressive cam/heads package would touch that.
