Ill be replacing my t-stat later today and will use a zip bag to get most of the coolant but im sure ill miss some.

I know i need OAT (ms12106) compliant coolant but dealer is closed so ill need to find something else.

The mopar oat should be purple but mine isn't. Ive read fiat oat is pink so it's probably what i have.

Ill go check this product at my local Canadian Tire to see if it have the ms-12106 certification

For those who did change the t-stat, will I lose enough coolant that I shouldn't drive if I don't add more?

You can always have a gallon of distilled water on hand in a pinch. Bummer yours aint the purple stuff, that chit rocks. Maybe take the time to switch it to the purple stuff.

I'm pretty sure you can mix any Oats, but the newest purple formula took the seal killing 2-ethylhexanoate out. Read here. Might be worth the change.

Mine is clearly not purple and the one in the picture of the article isnt either (2013 dart). Ill have to make a visit at the dealer Monday and ask them to run my vin to get me the right stuff so i can protect myself if they screw up.

This is what didn't make it in the zip bag

I purchased some demineralized water and topped it.

Here's the reading at idle

If your truck is a 2013 and newer it has purple coolant. I was tripping out when I drained some to change my thermostat out. It looked like yours, that orange pink color. But if you collect some in a clear plastic water bottle and put the bottle up in the air in the shade or towards the light it'll be bright purple. Its a weird illusion affect.
I went to the dealer to by some purple antifreeze and it changes from purple to orange. :superhack:

Cool link thanks for posting. I'm never changing my coolant, just siphon off 16 ounces every couple years and put in RMI-25, until and if I ever see a problem. We should check our radiators as often as we check our oil.

If I was buying a new anything Chrysler and the coolant wasn't purple, I'd pass.

This was a picture of a less then 50k mileage vehicle that never had anything but Dex from slow rollers post. Can't blame it on mixing coolants. Point being, Oat has one thing you can't mix it with and it isn't HOAT, it is air. Look into RMI25.

I posted a while back good luck trying to tell what cooler the coolant is, when you look in the cap it looks orange, when you suck some out with a suction gun it's pinkish purple (not what I would call pink or purple) and when you pull the dipstick in the over flow it looks purple on the stick but pink on a paper towel, so I just ordered a the stock OAT antifreeze from Mopar. Hasn't shown up yet but I will use it no matter what color it is.

I agree with the RMI-25! Highly recommend it! Use it in all our autos. Add 8oz and No Worries...

What you're saying is because our truck don't have pressurized overflow tank OAT will react to the ambient air getting into the unsealed overflow tank? If that's the case send me some reference because that's another recall in the making...

I don't know about the new Oat formula, hopefully by removing the bad actors we will avoid this, time will tell. Plenty of info on Oat/Air damage out there. If you run RMI25, any hint of anything wrong and it shows up in your overflow tank. Been running it in every vehicle for about a decade, stuff is amazing. Ran it in an old ford that had massive radiator damage, RMI25 turned it into slim and just pulled it from overflow. Pulled out a bunch of this over a week, and I assume the radiator was spotless. Ran into I sold it no problems.

RMI25 removed sludge from radiator- there was nothing in overflow til I ran RMI25, then my overflow looked like this.snot3.jpg

Here is what the claims are from RMI25, and I can swear to hell and back it does exactly what it says it does!!

"RMI-25 restores the additive package to your antifreeze. RMI-25 is a liquid consisting of a pH Stabilizer for acid/alkaline balance, an Oxygen Scavenger to prevent cavitation, erosion and cylinder pitting. A Lubricant for seals, hoses and water pumps. A Cleaner that breaks down rust, scale and corrosive deposits. These deposits are changed from solids to a soft floating harmless gel-like material. These dissolved solids will not recombine or form blockages in the cooling system. After a period of time the dissolved solids will purge out of the system and into the coolant recovery tank."

Never heard of the stuff. Did some searching and looks decent. But its sold at a few places like Amazon ... if it's real RMI25. Seems like different bottles and companies that make it?

You can buy direct from RMI25 on Amazon, look at the seller.

If anyone buys it I recommend getting only what you need, and do not stockup on it. After a few years the product does not do great. On well maintained systems I use 8 ounces, when a truck gets old like a decade or so, go up to 16, if there is a problem get the 32.

I have bought my RMI-25 off of Ebay! -->For the past 8 years.. {I have 4 8oz bottles} I just refill from a 32oz I buy...

I make an effort every January to add 8oz...

I add 2 8oz bottles to my 01 7.3L PSD... I added a spin-on coolant filter as well... 303K miles and still on the stock water pump... I can honestly say { I have never had a Cooling System Issue} since I started using this product...
