So from my understanding is the 3.21 does not have a lsd rear end. Does this mean that only one tire will spin? I have a 3.21 gear ratio and 4wd so if this is the case I'm really a 3 wheel drive.

Say you're stuck in a ditch in 4wd. One front and one rear will spin. It will drive all four, just not at the same time.

If the rear is an open diff (no limited slip or locker) you can bet the front is open. That means one wheel in the front and one in the back will have power to them if the truck is engaged in 4 wheel drive. What's worse is the wheel with the least traction gets the power.

Read your window sticker or take your VIN and plug it into the equipment sheet lookup. Could be worrying over nothing.

I did that's how I just found out what I have. Guess I will be changing over to the factory 3.92 stuff in the future. Wonder how much the whole rear end and front diff will cost from the dealer? Something I need to look into

I believe you'd be into it for 2-3 thousand if you have it installed.

Can the lsd be added to the 3.21 gears. And yes I messed up. Didn't realize it until it was to late or I would have went 3.92 with the lsd for the rip

yeah, but if yer gonna do it, do it all at once...get the gears and the lsd...otherwise ya pay full install price each time!
Moes has great prices on both...
I put in a 4.10 w/lsd on my 1500 when I had it..was like 900 for the gears/lsd/install kit and paid 550 to get em installed. (rear only)

I would do 4.10 gears but I have to get a pre 2011 differential and change everything over. That's why I was thinking just doing the 392 factory stuff and be done

If ordered without the LSD option, then they are both open diffs stock.

It doesn't what axle you have, 3.21/3.55/3.92 if the LSD option was not added when ordering it will come with open diff.

if i keep my truck ill be adding a torsen to my 3.21's. I keep wanting 3.92s but then I get on the highway with authority and like them again.

Buy a locker.

That's what I figured. I didn't know if it would say it or if that's how they came stock.

Do they make a locker for the 2016 Ram? That would be the way to go. Really all I would need is just a locker for the back the front not so much. I don't do no extreme off reading but it's nice to have if I ever get off in some bad stuff. I also like my 3.21 gears with the lift and tires it still rolls out pretty good for what it is

Can I buy a LS just for the rear or would I have to do the front diff to? I really don't care so much about having a open diff in front but would like to have the limited slip in the back if that is possible to do without issues
