So my 2010 trx4 has started losing power when coming to stops. It did it twice this past weekend. It just dies, I put it into neutral and it fires right back up. I've had a CEL on for the three weeks I've been driving it so I guess it really time to check that out but has anyone else had this issue?

Hey Knight,

If you take your truck in to the dealer and need any follow up, let us know!

If you can scan it would help, but to me it sounds like the idle control valve. Ive had this same issue years ago on a car. It will run all day long, drives perfect, but under a moderate to heavy slow down it would die. New valve never had the issue again.

pull the code and see what it says. ive had a similar issue in the past and simply cleaning the throttle body and sensors fixed it. may want to start there if you havent already done so recently.

I'm hoping it's something like that, first thing that came up on Google was the tipm and that scares me to death lol. Would a bad idle control valve contribute to a rough idle by chance?

It could lead to a rough idle as thats what it uses to idle the truck. Does it surge or just idle bad? Might want to run a can of throttle body cleaner through it just for measure to clean the sensor, throttle plate, and surrounding bits.

Well quick update, took truck to the shop to have everything checked out, had sparkplugs changed and throttle body cleaned. CEL was on because a plug misfiring causing an injector to shut down. Drove it around last night no stalls or anything and then outta nowhere the CEL comes back on again truck seems to be running fine if not better than before but still, I guess it's back to the shop monday

So the code it's throwing now is a P3400, cylinder deactivation system bank 1. From my research the first place to start is replacing the cylinder deactivation solenoid but I can't find any good instructions for changing one out. Does anybody here have any input and is it difficult?
