So I have been researching this night and day on this forum and others and just want to clarify a couple things. If I want to swap gears on my 2013 ram 1500 4wd can I just get a front differential with the 3.92 gears in it?

I was told from a vendor here that I would need the front axle out of a 2008 and older ram in order to change my gear ratio up front. This does not sound correct from my research.

If I were to find a differential with the 3.92 gears in it could I swap the R&P in it to a 4.10 ratio?

I know there are lots of threads on this and I have read most of them. But the response from the vendor left me very confused and non interested in the project. But I plan on a supercharger soon and would really like the better gear ratio.

From what I've read if you just want the factory 3.92 ratio then just find a front out with one that has them. But if you want to go to 4.10 ratio (or any non factory ratio) then you need to find an older model cuz the newer ones have the ring gear welded into the differential.

If you are OK with running a 3.92 gear, the you would only need a 3.92 front housing from a 2012+ truck. If you want to run 4.10's or higher, then you need the front axle and driveshaft from an 07-11...then you can purchase the older 8" front gears up to a 4.56 and install kit.
