Hello, all! I just bought my first dodge, 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 V8, and I am noticing that there doesn't seem to be an availability of after-market performance parts as there is with other models, such as the 5.7 Hemi.

For instance, the cold air intake kit that matches my model engine is hard to find, as well as headers and other popular slap-on performance parts.

Is this a rare model / engine truck from dodge (4.7 V8) that they just don't make performance parts for or am I missing something?

thanks!

The aftermarket hasnt come around for the 4.7 guys. If you are 2wd, then the best mods you can buy would be a tuner, 4.10/4.56 gears, and tq converter. If 4wd, then I would still add the tuner and tq converter, but 4wd gear swaps on the 2013's are very expensive and labor intensive.

AirRaid makes a CAI for the 13 4.7/ Matt at Moes might still have a ported throttle body for one,and any catback exhaust for a Hemi will fit your 4.7,and as Matt says a Diablo tuner with a custom tune helps. There's no bolt-on headers available for the redesigned 08+ 4.7.You can add a convertor and a set of 3.92 gears if your budget allows it.If yours is a 2 wheel drive you can even go to 4.10's pretty easily. A small shot of nitrous helps, lol.I made 250hp from a 2013 4.7 with all the available bolt-ons and a custom dyno tune. There's not really all that much available for the later 4.7's.I think somebody has turbocharged one,but I think a turbo set-up would be a custom build,as I don't think there's an off the shelf kit available.

Wait... What? 4.7? I thought that was a typo... Didn't even know these existed. Is this an option for price? Fuel economy?

Last year the 4.7 was available was in 2013.It wasn't really known to get that much better milege then the 5.7 though,as it didn't have a mds system

In 2008, the 4.7 got a big boost - 2 plugs per cylinder, semi-hemi design and a lot of other things. Allpar.com has a complete write up of the changes, but it wound up with 310HP@5650 and 330ft-lbs@3950. It didn't have MDS, and MPG was maybe 1mpg better than the 5.7 w/MDS. The main benefit was it was cheaper, and much better than the standard 3.7 V6. When FCA was "giving" the Hemi away as a free upgrade, there wasn't much call for the 4.7. Bu they were the popular choice for a lot of fleet vehicles.

As I said, I had one in my 09 4x4. I was getting about the same MPG, but at the time I was also commuting 80+ miles a day over mostly 2 lane back roads. My commute now is much shorter.

There are a few performance parts out there, but the main focus has been on the 5.7.

Looks like the link to my old build disappeared Moparnutz. It's over in the 4.7 section on the other ramforum site.
