well gears were installed today. so far i can tell a difference in acceleration. it comes alive around 4500 or so on to shift point. it will spin them pretty good from a dead stop. i reset the mpg thingy to see if there is a change. i think i did well. i do wish there was like a 4.30 gear i would have gone that route.

Who installed your gears? Been thinking about doing this, but I heard the install is really expensive.

a local mechanic did the install. he charged me $300 labor plus fluids. no crazy lights or anything at all. i think 4.30s or 4.56 gears would be perfect for me. but im happy with the change

i ordered them thru moe's performance. they are oem mopar gears. another question to those who have done the gear swap. my dash fuel economy meter was showing around 13.5 before the gear swap. now im getting anywhere between 11.9-12.2 in town. i reset it and drove around for a week before and i have driven around for a week and its about 1.5 mpg lower??? i figured it would go up. maybe it did, i havent hand calculated it. is this common for yall who have swapped yalls 4th gen?

I'm sure your speedometer is off with the new gears. It thinks that you have different sized tires on it now. It doesn't know the difference. Without a way to accurately adjust your speedo I would imagine that your mileage will not be accurate.

How long did it take you? Did you go through Moe's with the install kit? Need a helping hand when you did it or were you able to do it alone?

No I went through randys automotive in Washington. I bought the gears and the Lsd for the rear that was cut and dry. Now for the front you can do it yourself. But mine is lifted I don't think the 2008 front differential will fit a stock truck.

I would go with the 4.10 probably.

Took about a week but that is because I was identifing and locating parts as needed. But I would say if I had everything it would be about 2 days

Do you know about the ring gear in the front differential that's why we're limited to the stock 355,392,410s. mine is a 13 and I feel horrible ripping the front apart. I needed a 2008 front differential, axel cv, drive shaft but to get the gears that's what we need lol. Is your ram a 4x4? If not then you can get away with gears for the rear only a little more simple.

I'm fairly new to this conversation topic. It's a 4x4. I was under the impression that if you swap your rear for a OEM size that you can leave the front alone. Is that false?
