The carriers don't need to because they are 2010's. $210 for each set of 4:56's, plus $850 labor to install the gears. I already have a auto recycler lined up to buy my stock rear end and front diff for $1850 so I will basically be getting 4:56's for free.

Would be nice to see a full required parts list. My dealer told me "6 grand" to do it. Fu** that. I'll live with my 3.21s for that price.

I own a 2013, and Last night purchased a Whole LSD 2010 rear end w/ 3.92, and a 2010 Front Differential w/3.92. Getting them switched to 4.56 as soon as UPS drops them off at my door.

Good to hear someone else getting this swap done.

I was quoted $3300 to take my 10' 4x4 (open rear) 3.55's
to 4.56's and a Detroit TruTrac for the rear, most of that was labor (Canada)

So spent $3700 on a supercharger instead.
...something I could DIY install. :flipthebird:

Gear swap is still on my to-do list, but not a priority right now,
First have to finish building my garage, then ARH LT headers
....and rebuild my back-up transmission.

i guess it all depends on your location and shop rates

It's a real bugger in Canada,
Been through the issue several times with Jeep's
I re-geared to 4.56s with ARB air lockers in both Diffs

I could import my parts cheaper from the U.S.
But the local shops wont warranty unless they supply AND install.

If there's a failure they blame the parts,
my U.S. supplier would call B.S. and claim it must be installer error
...yes it's happened to me, screwed!

So in order to ensure things don't have to get re-done on my dime if something goes south
I'm forced to pay higher marked up local prices, and higher labor fee's

Sure wish I could DIY, like everything else on my Ram
but I don't trust myself when it comes to setting up gears/lockers.
...maybe someday but I'd want to practice on a POS first, not my baby.

Yeah that really sucks

but yeah i understand that. I would try to do it myself on most things but i dont trust myself to do it on my truck, since i dont have a lot of experience on suspension systems and what not.
Wish i had a beater jeep or something to try it all on also...but that would take away from my truck money! haha cant have that

Ok, I have a 2014 1500 rental right now with the 8nspeed and 3.21's. I honestly don't know why everyone hates them so much. I had 3.55's with the 8 speed in my 1500 and this one feels just as fast (rental is a quad cab mine was a crew cab long box). Setting the cruise at 70 averaged me 19 mpg's, I had to go 60 to get that with my 3.55's. I can appreciate wanting more power and all but how much more do you want to burn the tires off at every launch?

That's the only benefit of the 3.21s, highway. In town the 3.92s would do much better. Plus lifted people with bigger tires need the lower gear ratio

In town it would be better but with the 8 speed I would guess the difference isn't that much. With the 6 speed there is no way I would want anything but 4.10's, with the 8 speed I would be happy with 3.21's though. It makes me miss that 4.71 first gear even more now.

is this 100% accurate?

my truck is a 3.21 truck but I would love the 3.92 gears.

I can just buy gears and have someone install them? without changing the housing like everyone says?

Can the 2014 guys only use the factory 3.92's or is there anyway we can get something like a 4.10 or 4.56?

LR88, it's usually the guys with the 6 speeds that hate up on the 3.21s and the 3.55s. The reason is, that the 6 speed has that stupid tall 1st gear. I had 3.55s with the 6. The truck moaned and lugged all the time, unless I used the slap stick. I had 4.10s put in, and for the life of me, I have no clue why 4.10s weren't standard. 4.10s make that tranny, and the truck as a whole, so much better. In 1st gear at 2000 rpm, 15 mph. In 6th at 2000 rpm, 70 mph. That's not low. That's just about right.

well you mine as well switch your front differential to a 2010 and get 4.56 or 4.10 i wouldn't waster your money on a 3.92 switch with 37s. I would just bare with the power loss, itll just feel more like a truck hahah
