Hi.

I have a 2016 v6 Pentastar (I was trying to save a little money on gas) and am wondering what the expected engine life is? I don't seem to be able to find anything for the v6.

I mostly use my truck as a daily driver with occasional loads of junk in the bed. Nothing heavy.

I will be getting a caravan next year to tow, but it's ultralight and aerodynamic.

Given the sort of length of roadtrips we'll be doing (7000km), I'd rather know what I'm getting into ahead of time :)

Thanks.

First WELCOME from Maine ! Congrats on your new RAM
I picked up my 2015 V6 last Nov. From all I have heard the motor should last 200000 miles +, Just Change the oil on time and routine maintenance ! I use 100% Synthetic just because I believe it to be a way better oil!
Like you I do not beat up my truck so that is a major plus IMO for long life ! Also my RAM is my weekend ride !
Also for me the V6 has enough power to tow what I need ! There is a chart somewhere showing the towing capacity of our RAM's. I'll post it if I find it !

Thank you for the warm welcome.

200,000 miles (320,000km) sounds good to me. I'm sure lots of other stuff will fail first!

I'm going to switch to synthetic now that I'm going to be towing.

My truck has the default ratio and is only rated for ~4400lbs towing. But given the weight of my trailer, that's fine. The V6 is as much truck as I really need; I had a 5.0L F150 perviously and don't miss it.

Thanks for the reply!

There are many grand Cherokee over 100000 miles with the Pentastar that are running just fine. 200000 !iles should be easily attainable.

I have the V6 Pentastar engine in my Jeep Wrangller Unlimited, for more than 4 years.

The current Pentastar has the kinks sorted out, and has been a solid engine.

Just do the regular oil changes and scheduled maintenances, and it will last and serve you well.
