Just wondering if anyone has ever cut out and replaced the factory y pipe with A stainless aftermarket one? I have installed a 3in/ 2.5in dual out on my 2014 ram but i feel like it should be flowing a bit better than it is.

An aftermarket Y-pipe is not going to show any noticable increase unless you are also adding headers. The stock Y is pinched off, but the stock exhaust manifolds just dont move enough air to really benefit much by opening up the y-pipe. I would hold off on this until you are ready to install headers.

I noticed a significant improvement in the way the truck drove after doing the Y pipe. Now I'm not hammer down drag racing, but stop light to stop light - in both gen 4 trucks that I have owned - the Y pipe was worth the $100 or so to do.

I did it to my 2011 ram and the only improvement i seen or received was the looks, anyone that says that a y pipe alone is an improvment is blowing smoke out there ****

I say a Y pipe is an improvement. blow that out your ass. 2 - 2.5" into 1 single 3 and fixing that - replacing repairing that makes no difference? give me a break. why not cork it up into a single 1 inch then? Just cap it right there at the merge? LoL

FACT -

Moes performance told me in a post that the Y pipe mod was worth 5 hp. So - run tell. LoL

Wow, guess you read this post wrong, get your truck dyno tested before and after the y-pipe..... this is comparable to a newfie adding flame stickers to the side of his truck and saying its faster now.........[emoji23]

Yipe alone does nothing, not sure how many times i have read this on various forums

Without track results of dyno before and after of the same day. The Y pipe might gain a couple hp but the manifolds are where it's suffering the most. Two words come to mind... "Placebo Effect"

I just eliminated the Y completely. I had my local exhaust shop cut it out and run a dual pipe cat back to a xcelerator muffler then stock out the back.

350.00 bucks
sounds great when WOT, cracking the throttle, but not to loud.

combined with vararam intake and 18o tstat, hemifever tune, IM happy for the moment.

IRT Headers needed as posted by Moe's, I see that the factory manifold's are restrictive, but the way the stock y pipe comes together...to much total reduction in area and turbulent flow due t the many bends...it had to go!!! Also, I think the increased laminar flow makes a difference.
Should I go to headers.. ...and possibly high flow cats....I'm sure the combination will yield great results.

Well Im already running a free flowing cat back with hemifever 91 tune. I would love to run a set of long tubes right into a 2 3/4 collector into my muffler but long tubes dont fit a 2500 model.. Might just leave it be for the price it will cost me

ARH makes longtubes with or without cats for all the 2006-2016 Ram 2500 5.7 trucks ;)

Do the ARH headers with cats bolt directly to the OEM flange at the Y, or is modification necessary?

They clamp onto the section of 3" straight pipe that is in between the factory Y and the muffler. Once you install the ARH headers and Y-pipe, you make 1 straight cut on that 3" straight pipe where the ARH Y ends...then clamp the 2 pipes together. You dont have to weld or bend anything.
