Hey all, I picked up a 2010 5.7 vvt out of a Cherokee for a project, it has about 55K miles on it. Before I stab it in its new home, does the group have some thoughts on Items that I should be changing while its easy to access..??

It has a new power steering pump....

thanks

Drop the pan (new gasket required) and inspect lower end.

If previous owner wasn't changing oil, this is where you'll find the schmutz that warns you, and there should be a magnet for ferrous metal fragments (bearings etc.).

If you have one you can bore scope the the lower cylinders even if you don't want to try and rotate it (spark plugs out helps with that).

I'd just change the Cam and Lifters for the principle of it. The have comp cam kits where you can get everything for like 350 bucks, search comp cam kits. It is likely the cylinders are decent, but yeah scope them.

Maybe do something with the exhaust manifold and or bolts? It seems to be a common problem on some of those motors. Its a pain to deal with while the motor is in, but id think its pretty easy to do while the motor is out.

Make certain you have a PCM that will work with that 2010 engine in a 2011 RAM.

Thanks all, I did bore scope the cylinder and they are nice. This engine is going in a 08 wrangler. And I'm all too familiar with the exhaust manifold bolt issue an my 11 has it now...
