My head is spinning. I need some help building my transmission. Ultimately, I would like to Whipple my 2012 2wd. My transmission builder is telling me not to, that I am asking for trouble. I am building the engine to make 600hp N/A. Should I stop there and be happy. So, I do some research and find that I can purchase adapters to put a 4L80E in the truck. Has anyone successfully done this? Do I have other options????

The 65 won't take much over stock power, especially with the positive displacement blower and no matter what anybody tells you, they can't build a 65 to hold power reliably. There are 2 options available to you, the A518 or the 4L80e. I'm in the middle of the 4L80 swap and as far as I know I'm the first to do it in a 4th gen with the VVT so in 2-3 weeks I'll have a full report on how it goes; it's not a cheap swap though unless you go full manual valve body, I'm about $7k into the swap and still need a driveshaft to be made. The 518 is a direct bolt in, you'll need to make a TV cable, and the factory driveshaft can be reused, it's about a $3000 swap with a great write up on the swap over on hemitruckclub.com.

Here's the link to the 518 swap. There's a lot of info in that thread but well worth the read.

I read that. It is a lot to consider. I will have to have a sit down with my transmission guy.
