@R.L.K. when you do your fluid and filters, can you take a pic of the valve body and internals? I'm curious to see how much clutch material is there as compared to mine...

Also @U&A had asked a while back about how low the dipstick goes in comparison to the main filter intake, if you could get a pic of that as well? Thanks and good luck

Actually, my concern was how low or high it was in relation to the " takeup" filter or whatever its called..... the flat one. Not the spin on.
Sorry I remember now, I edited my post!

I plan to take many , many pics and post up a step by step tutorial here in the beginning of this thread where I saved a few post .

I'll certinly take photos of the valve body area and the position of the dip stick on the lower end as well !

So my official temperature comparison from ATF+4 and Redline C+ ATF in my 66RFE with an PML 11079 deep pan +2 quarts over stock.......wow that was a mouth full :puke::puke: LOL.

Soooo.....There is really no differance in temp in MY transmission. Note the "MY".

But. I can confidently say that in general my 66RFE shifts smoother & quicker. The other benafit i saw was a slight increase in MPG. I averaged it out ot about a .5 - .7 MPG increase on my EVIC average.

(I believe ) the overall temperature being about the same doesn't realy suprized me . Even with the +2 qts of fluid .
I would however expect it to take a bit longer ( 10 mins + /- ) to get up to temp.?
Good to here on the mpgs and smoother / better shifting. I've read many times here and on other boards that the REDLINE C + Has improved shifting and overall mpgs .

Thats the thing. My temp testing was on the same exact trip (to work every morning) so the distance speeds and driving habits were the same. I just logged the trans temps almong with the outside temps on that day and have seen very slight differances in in temps up and down. So i called it a wash.

The best part about my test is the trip is short enough that the tranny never reaches full temp so the +2 quarts (if anything) should have made a differance in how fast it gets to temp in the short trip ( 17min 12miles)But it didnt.

My temps are also around the same as well. Now that it's normal summer temps here, my trans got up to 140 just driving around normal when it was 90 here the other day. That's about what it was before C+ and the MH pan.

But I agree, the shifting is smoother and much more consistent throughout all outdoor temps.

Im so jealous of 140. The 66rfe opp temps are 170's. WTF.

The 8 speeds are 180 -190 normally ..and 210 + while towing in the summer !

I've only seen my xsmn (6speed) over 140 a few times and that was towing or in the mountains with 4-6% upgrade for several miles at a time for about 30 mins or so of travel time while starting at 130 ° at the bottom of the mountain.

That just baffles me about the 8 speed. Heat is the #1 enemy of transmissions yet FCA engineered a heat exchanger to ADD heat to the fluid...

My wife's 16 Challenger RT Plus has the 8 speed and it runs 175 -190 after 12 -15 min

That would be even better because then it would be guaranteed that the filter is sucking up fluid.
Yes Sir , well above the sump filters intake tube !1a44ca5b8ece804a5f46b30db2b9537b.jpgfd47b2a754467d6f4a63b018a3283090.jpg3ab2f77d5220a71c8973d5d0d57933bf.jpg

According to the owners manual, the "normal service" interval for the trans fluid is 120k so you're good there as long as you haven't done too much heavy towing.

Amsoil MVATF is no doubt a great product. However I don't personally feel its a good fluid for these transmissions because they are so finicky about the type of fluid they have. Amsoil MVATF is a "one size fits all" kind of ATF and I prefer an ATF that is tailored for the ATF+4 specs. Castrol Transmax, Mobil, Pennzoil, and slew of others make a great ATF+4 thats Chrysler licensed. Keep in mind to be ATF+4, it has to be synthetic as per Chrysler specs. Here's a full list: Licensed Brands | Chrysler ATF+4® Licensing Program

Although not officially licensed by Chrysler, Redline C+ is probably about the best ATF+4 compliant fluid you can get.

Also, I would avoid a flush. Heard way too many stories of it ruining transmissions. Just do a pan drop and install a drain plug so you can do do easy fluid changes in the future. Or spend the money for a PML or MagHytec pan with a built in drain plug.
According to the Redline C+ jugs I have Redline complies with chrysler specifications on two diff specs , I'll try to remember to post pics tomorrow.

Nice write-up @R.L.K.!!! I need to get one of those t handle Allen heads. Starting those bolts with an Allen socket while holding that heavy MH pan was NOT fun...
