Well im close to that :roflsquared: That redline oil is liquid gold....lol...
Ha very true! But at least we know Redline is actually worth the money instead being gouged by Chrysler for a "special" fluid

The more I work on my truck the more i'm developing a hate for the Dodge suit dummies that put profits over quality.. The way they cheaped on some of these factory parts is ridiculous. At least the aftermarket replacement parts are cheaper and better.

And all these OEM manufacturers developing " special " fluids to gouge the owners is annoying as well. And this is the last new truck im ever buying. I'm actually looking into buying an old Gen 1 Cummins truck and rebuilding it from the ground up. I can't justify the price they want for these new grocery getter trucks. I will be retired from the military soon and need a new hobby to occupy my time. :)

Well this is funny, :)

I decided not to remove the Y pipe so I had to screw around getting a couple of bolts out and torquing the filter bolt back on. I go to put on The Mag Hytec Pan and guess what it won't fit, not enough clearance to slide it in. So I had to unbolt the Y pipe... *****....

So I decided a coffee break was in order... lol

I didnt try to remove the O rings, the dodge instructions say only to remove if damaged. So I didnt mess with it, I used a torque wrench and strongly suggest you have one to do this type of work.

The spin on filter is really easy to cross thread so be extremely careful when installing.

I switched back to the OEM pan with a B&M drain plug.

This is the best place I feel to put the drain plug as theres no interference with anything and it's closest to the bottom of the pan so most of the fluid should drain out. Installation of the drain plug was fairly straightforward. Be careful to only tighten it to 25ft/lbs max. Over tightening will cause it to leak. I went the extra step of putting RTV both on the inside and outside around the hole. Then I put some more around the bolt on the outside of the pan. I also used some Permatex thread sealer on the drain plug itself. For $12 you can't go wrong with this kit.

As for the Dorman pan, I found it doesn't have enough clearance on the side of the pan where the filters are and it was pushing on both filters. The main filter doesn't show any signs damage but the spin on filter has a few spots that are caved in. It was also not allowing the dipstick to fully be inserted into to the fill tube.

Not sure if this is just an issue with the 65RFE, but I would recommend against using it if you have this trans. It's too bad, it's a nice pan with a magnetic drain plug...

@ Hemi395 , thanks for the input sir , I was gonna get one of these !
Your not the first person I've heard of stating similar complaints about the filters contacting .

I may just install a drain plug in my OEM pan as well .

@ DILLIGAF , we're you able to get your Y pipe back on with the Mag-Hytec pan ?
Any filter contact issues ?

I see your profile says 2012 and a.modified exhaust.
The Mag-Hytec says 45RFE .

What transmission do you have ?
4x4 or 2wd ?

I might go this route as well in the future.....
The one DILLIGAF has says 45RFE , I wonder if they make one for the 65RFE
I also wonder if it fits with a 4x4 and stock exhaust?

If you run a modified exhaust, you can run the deeper pan for 68 rfe, it holds about two more quarts. If anyone is interested, I have a brand new one , as I just traded in the ram. It'll be in the classifieds as soon as time permits me to take pics of all my stuff.
