Just curious how interchangeable parts from a SRT 6.4 to my 2500 6.4 would be. Tried finding a thread but didn't find anything. Anyone tried this?

From my understanding through reading on these forums, they're two completely different engines. Ram 6.4 is built to work, a workhorse. Srt 6.4 high performance race motor.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Depends on what parts you're talking about. The heads from the SRT 6.4 are identical to the big gas truck heads as far as ports, but the truck does have better cooling capabilities and I believe sodium filled exhaust valves.

Truck has a different camshaft and lower compression pistons, different intake manifold, cooled EGR, etc. What are you wanting to use?

Wouldn't really see the value of swapping SRT parts into this motor. I do see value and swapping headers, intake exhaust and getting a custom dyno tune to unleash the HD 6.4 to its full potential. What exactly are you trying to accomplish

Right on. I'd suggest starting with the bolt ons like headers intake throttle body exhaust and a custom tune then go from there. Another member here picked up something like 50-60 hp just from those.

i just read an article on allpar? that as soon as you hit 13000 miles the engine opens up and you seem to get a power boost. i have no experience with this engine, but maybe worth waiting to see if this is true.

The only part that might be worth changing over is the cam. But even then it's debatable as having a custom grind made instead would probably suit you better. The engine is basically a beefed up SRT 6.4 motor but due to lower compression (10:1), milder cam, crappy exhaust manifolds, and tuning the power is way down over the standard 6.4.

As for easy mods, headers are going to give you your biggest improvement, followed by tuning, and a new torque converter IMO. I made 365hp at the wheel with my mods, even with 35's.

What was your RWHP before any mods?

No idea, never had a stock dyno run on my truck. K&N's dyno showed 293hp in 2nd gear and MBRP made 316hp, on stock trucks.

That's a significant amount of increase on hp.
