Default 8 speed transmission usage question
Hey guys, just wondering. Is it ok to use the ERS buttons to gear down for compression regularly? Does it cause more wear to the tranny?

I used to do it with the 6 speed on my 2010 with no adverse effects to the tranny.

My only experience with automatic transmission vehicles has been with the 2 Rams I've owned and a Cherokee before that. Every vehicle I've owned before had manual transmissions.

It will wear on it more, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. I use mine to slow my roll from time to time.

If it were such a strain on the tranny to use them, those buttons wouldn't be there. That ZF is a robust transmission and a bit of engine braking isn't going to kill it.
