It ruins the point of having a performance intake on a non turbo truck. The idea of buying a cai is to isolate the intake from engine heat, so at stop lights or whenever you're stopped and want to take off, your engine is not sucking in the heat from the engine. With turbo cars (if it is intercooled) sucking up hot air doesn't make that much of a difference. Hope this helped :)

That setup in the picture probably caused a loss of power. All it’s doing is sucking in hot air.

That is ********. So many thing la wrong with the pic-
1) filter is tiny
2) all it is doing is sucking heat from the engine bay.
3) if it is a oiled filter than it’s probably just sucking the oil right out of it” if it is a turbo motor”should be a non oiled
4) did I mention the hot air?
5) it’s gonna get caked with crud, dirt or what ever may be floating around that engine bay.
Just a bad idea all the way around.
