So when I traded my v6 for the hemi, I removed the Airaid intake before I took it in for the trade. I got it installed on the hemi today and so far so good. You can hear it growl at WOT but otherwise its not much louder than stock. I do have the pre-filter sock as well. Anyone else have an Airaid? Whats your opinion on it? Better MPG? Less MPG?

Thanks!

Not sure about mileage but the throttle response should have improved some. How does it feel when driving around town? At WOT?

Had one on the 09 for a while. (Had the sock plus the AirAid tube as well) No noticeable change in MPG one way or the other. I guess I got tired of it (?). Ended up taking it off and selling it on Ebay. Went back to OEM.

In your case, as you already had it from the V-6, there's certainly nothing wrong with keepin it for 5.7.

I don't like open top intakes. They suck in more hot air than closed box systems. Not as efficient, looks good though.

I have one. I'd buy again.

It's not an open top. The hood seals the top. Air is drawn from below. One of the Mopar magazines did an CAI comparison. They used a 5.7 Hemi in a Challenger., on a Dyno. The Air Raid was either First of Second in both Hp and Tq gains.

They're kind of expensive. But they look and sound cool, if that's worth anything to you. With the heavier tires, front end lift, and 4.10 gears, you'd think I had turned my truck into a gas hog. But that's absolutely not the case. I have to make a concious effort to get good fuel mileage. But when I do, the truck does at least as good as it did in stock trim. I think that's due to the mechanical advantage of the 4.10s, the Hemi Fever Tune, and the Air Raid.

I have one in the Mustang also. I wouldn't be without it in that car. They work.

My solution to Air Grabber

This is what I did. I love the Air Grabber, but they don't make it for my gen III so I grafted one to fit with a custom snorkel air ram scoop I made using the "lost foam" method. It not only looks old school, but it's functional and I have already seen an increase in my gas mileage from just adding the snorkel scoop. It feeds air from the high pressure area in the front of my grill as you can see directly into the air cleaner. It detaches with "mini push latches", real cool, just push the buttons in and the scoop lifts right out and then "snaps" right back into place upon return. I'm going to add a functional hood with scoop later because the Air Grabber has been modified to seal to the bottom of my hood, I had to build the seals up in order for then to reach the hood, but now there's a seal ring around the bottom of the hood where you can see where it's sealing. Feedback is welcomed, suggestions?
