Just wondering if anyone added the DODJP to their exhaust to get rid of the drone. My 18" Mufflex doesn't drone much when I'm alone, but when the truck is loaded and the engine is working a little harder the drone at ~1700rpm is very annoying.

Being in Canada it's an expensive piece to get, so I want to make sure it really work with our truck before pulling the trigger.

Thanks

It does work. I've driven a few trucks running this, and there was a noticeable reduction in drone in the cab. Both trucks I drove with this setup were running the 14" muffler.

Where do you install that on a RAM?

The J pipes do work, they make them for the G8s, Camaro's etc and they make a huge difference.

I know they work for other cars, but was wondering if it took care of the ~1700rpm drone most seems to have running the Magnaflow mufflers

Well you convinced me, I've ordered it.

It will end up costing me 300 Canadian pesos, but if it work well for my application I'll be one happy camper.

I'll try to capture the drone with my camera so I can do a before/after

Interested in sound clips, I plan on getting headers soon and I know it's going to way louder with my flowmaster muffler.

Ok so I installed the j-pipe tonight and so far I like the result.

Here's the pipe that I cut

Now I had to bend the heat shield underneath to prevent the j-pipe touching it. Also it clear the driveshaft but I would have preferred a little more clearance.

Video is still processing on YouTube, but the before/after is not that good since I used my phone to record it.

Again the phone didn't dod a good job, but if you switch from 0:15 and 0:59 you should be able hear the difference.

Headers do make the system louder........ Ive run without headers, with headers + cat, and headers without cats. While deleting cats is the obvious big difference, headers with cats is still a decent bit louder. Like going from a 18" maggy (stock mani) to 14" maggy (headers + cat) to delete (headers no cat).

J-pipe works for me. I was tired of the same drone, so that really helps

j pipe with mufflex 18

I just added this to my mufflex 18 because it drone pretty good at highway speeds, around 70. I'm glad it took the drone away but it seemed like it quieted it down alot. unless I just can't hear it in the cab anymore and it's the same outside. anyone else have this issue?

Do you guys that were having drone have the single or dual exhaust? And are you still getting drone with the MDS off? I want to pull the trigger on the 18 inch Magnaflow but I'm seeing a lot both ways with drone and no drone. Listened to a lot of the 18 inch clips and they sound good but don't want drone. I don't mind riding with MDS off all the time if that is what I have to do.

To the OP, the system works. But at the price of it I would have gotten a entire catback system and cancel the drone while giving you the sound you want and not hacking up the front before the muffler area. I dont like the clearance to the driveshaft and these can be made for ALOT less than what was purchased. **** for the price people pay I should start making them myself and selling them.

I had a 18" magnaflow clone and it droned bad between 1600-1900rpms, I think what your hearing is a mix of the drone and the MDS engaged. I pulled the trigger on a dynomax SS ultra catback (like $350, but they had a $50 rebate and i got $50 off using my summit speed card so I paid like $220 I think after all said and done shipped) and replaced the 18" muffler and stock catback and I have NO drone at all. The tone is close to that of the 18" muffler but none of the complaints. A well designed catback/muffler will not create more drone at the cost of noise. Hence why the magnaflow catbacks usually dont get drone either. FWIW the dynomax muffler is around 22", stock is 26" case length.

I just think its funny that people will spend money on the J pipe and a muffler instead of just going with the catback as they end up being close in price or cheaper lol.

I'm 100% with you on this, but there's so many thread on exhaust and being a very subjective matter it's easy to fall for the "cheap" route. Knowing what I know today I would probably just have bought the Stainless Works headers and their dual exhaust kit.
