Let me say this one thing. I myself am not a big fan of oil additives or engine treatments as they call them.
After talking to Steve and many other owners via the net on this additive. I will not recommend adding it to a car or pick up that sits for long periods of time... I would only add it to a daily driver. Due to the fact that this product has shown overtime to fall out of suspension.

I will not be adding it to every oil change. Probably every other oil change. Also I did not add the exact proper dosage per my 7 quart oil sump. I added less.
I will not recommend this product to any owners. I did my own research and plenty of hours looking in to what exactly is in this product. I do believe it has many benefits. If added in moderation! I do believe in this case less is more....

I'm gonna throw my take why they recommend 20w , its based on gas consumption. Just my opinion.

No other reason {Cafe}!! Same goes for the New 16Wt that will be on the shelves soon!
Well I ballsed out and today just got Pennzoil 20W to do my first oil change. It was also on special offer 22.59 for a 5quart at Walmart. Next time I'll do 30W.

For you guys who haven't read it yet, here ya go.

Motor Oils - Fuel Economy vs. Wear

Machinelube.com's recommendation for best oil.

The best protection against wear is probably a product that is a little thicker (such as SAE 10W-30 or 15W-40) and has more antiwear additives than the oils that support the warranty.

I run 20W as the manual calls for it. Trying to keep that warranty intact. I do what I'm told, I put the lotion on the skin. :naughty:

There was also a test done where a guy tested a bunch of oils for film strength, it is out on the internet for guys who want to look it up. It isn't a perfect test, but generally all of the 30 weight owned the top of the list. I will post the results just as some added info for guys interested. Most interesting, Penzoil Ultra came out on top. This was one guys findings on film strength testing a bunch of oils. Anything over 90,000 psi is great oil, but more interesting are oils that are way under that.

Yeah nice post, but it shows the 30w penzoil rating no 20w data? I hazard a guess it will be a little lower.

There is so much oil mumbo jumbo out there no way to know if any tests have real validity. Ive also read the reason Chrysler says to use 5-20 is the tight tolerances used in the motors, 20 flows faster and quicker to tight places, the mds is the other reason, there are people who have had codes tripped using heavier oil. I just don't see a valid reason to go heavier and many to not to. But its interesting so you guys keep trying maybe a good reason will come to light.:)

Rod: can you please bless us with the actual place you read that from?

I know the Nissan GTR 3.8L Twin Turbo engine has some of the {Tightest Clearances Known} within this awesome motor... and this Giant Killer of an engine is at least 6X more complex then the Chrysler 5.7L Hemi... This Motor is spec for 0W-40 Synthetic M1... Many owners are running 10W-60 in this Same motor with these super tight clearance with NO Issues...

I honestly have a very hard time believing tighter engine clearances require a thinner oil... None of the hand built engines within the exotic super cars{Whom All have some of The Tightest Engine Tolerances in the world} require a 20Wt or thinner oil... I have only seen a couple 30Wt most are 40Wt/50Wt recommended...

Notice real close----->Recommended NOT Required! Very Big Difference!

I am only curious where You acquired that info {Of Actual Data}and share it with others within this forum..

Burla, is Pennzoil Ultra available anymore? Or is it just Ultra Platinum?

Also, swapped the Amsoil filter with Fram Ultra. Hasn't ticked yet. Fingers crossed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 5.7 that's in the 2500s the same block as the 5.7 with MDS in the 1500s?

If that's the case, aren't the only differences the MDS system and cam phasers? If I'm right about that, why does the 2500 5.7 specify 5w30 while the the 1500 5.7 specifies 5w20? Guys like Syn, R.L.K, and a few others have said their trucks run fine on 30.

The biggest difference between the 1500s and the 2500s that sticks out to me is this: 1500s are rated by the EPA for fuel economy while the 2500s aren't.
