I just got done installing my ARH headers and every thing went pretty smooth considering. The question though is my brake lines look dangerously close to my headers. To those who have these installed. What have you all been doing about the brake lines? Sorry about the quality of the pics, I was laying under the truck.

I have a heat shield bolted up against my brake and fuel lines. Better than nothing.

Yea, that's what I was thinking about doing. Man they are close that's for sure. The headers are up against the clamp that holds them. I have tried to do some readjusting, but that is how it lines up.

You can wrap the lines in cool tape, that's what I did.

I wonder what the heat effect has on the brake fluid? does anyone know the boil point for brake fluid? I imagine even with an extreme amount of protection is still gonna get hot - I wounded just how hot though-

Update. So I have my headers wrapped and have put some reflective heat shield on and it is still melting the bracket that secures the brake lines. Any ideas on how to solve this?

If you're really ambitious you can try to shift the engine sideways slightly,a small stack of washers under the drivers mount on each bolt might give you a little more clearance.

Your right, that would definitely be ambitious haha. I think I have the problem solved. I ended up grinding the flange down some on the bracket that connects the header to the Y pipe. That was my main problem point and the only place it was accurately touching any thing. I have the headers re-wrapped, cool tape around the brake lines and reflective heat shield on top of that. So we shall see if it holds up. Thanks for the suggestions. :favorites13:

Old thread, sorry for the bump. I installed my ARH's this week. I'm seeing the same issue and don't wanna be the guy that has squishy brakes in the middle of traffic because I wore a hole in my line.

I put head tape over that section. How'd grinding down the flange workout for you?

pop the plastic support clip for the lines and work em up toward the top of the frame rail.
