What is the purpose of coating the headers? What are they coated with? Where do you take them to get coated? Do they not sell them already coated?

Main reasons to coat headers are to protect them and keep them under hood temperatures down. They are usually coated with ceramic. The place that did mine coated the outside with ceramic and the inside with copper (which is the first time I had heard of doing the copper). Usually you can find a local place to do them, but some people send them out to get coated by a place like Jet-Hot. Sometimes they will come coated from the factory. Usually stainless are uncoated since they don't need the protection as much as mild steel does.

I have not installed any but maybe Matt will chime in, I think he has installed 3 or 4 sets. Or you might just give him a call tomorrow.

DEI stick on heat shield is what I used over my brake lines.

I just ziptied my cable out of the way. With my JBA's I don't have any issue with the brake lines being too close.

How did you fix this issue? I'm pulling the trigger next week and I'm reading as many threads as possible. Can't decide between ARH or Kooks.

I realize this thread is a bit old but I have this question and it didn't seem to get answered here lol. ARH sent a bracket and a picture, but the black and white photo showing where it goes is worthless. I might just zip tie but would like to use this bracket.

Thanks!

I think some people zip tie it, but there is a bolt that needs to be removed to put the bracket on. It's easiest to turn the picture with the way you are looking at everything with your head in the wheel well. It re-routes it nice and close to the firewall and up.

I did mine in september and it's hard for me to remember exactly which bolt, but once you start pin pointing other points on the picture it should lead you to the bolt and it will make sense.

Just a heads up, if you are planning on ceramic coating, and drive daily in snow/salt...ceramic or Jett hot coating will rust and peel off after one winter. Ask me how I know.
As for gaskets, use cooper gaskets from summit racing. They seal the best, and are reusable.
