Auburn - strong unit, never heard of one blowing up.
Tru-Trac - meh unit, known a few Jeep types to destroy the units.

I think in a street truck, even with a big bad hemi, either would do just fine, but I'd personally shoot for the Auburn if the funds are available.

The Trutrac is more performance oriented for racing. The Auburn is a little quieter and better suited for the guys going offroad, but when it comes to track performance, I would rather have the Trutrac.

The Auburn uses clutches like the stock unit, so these can and will wear down over time. The TruTrac uses a work gear, so there are no clutches and no maintenance.

You cant go wrong with either of these units though. I know of very few failures with these, and most came from guys that were hitting their trucks with a lot of nitrous off the line.

Means no maintenence on the LSD unit itself unlike the OEM or Auburn. You still have drain and refill the differential at specified intervals.

I think it was more in regards to there are no clutches to wear out in the unit.
A factory unit as well as an Auburn has clutches that over time can wear out and need replacing. :waytogo:

Nope! You should see zero changes other than when taking very very sharp turns you might notice a touch of wheel slip. But even at that, I really doubt it.
