They think it was just a bad gear and once one tooth sheared off it just caused a chain reaction with others.
They replaced just about everything on the inside

Yep the entire axle, housing and all.
The dealer has been nothing but great to me. They even give us demo trucks to cruise around in while we wait for oil changes

Well ****. She's going back to the dealer. Someone made a boo boo.
Doing about 50, decided to play in 4auto, rear tires start chattering and smoking a bit, transfer case sounds like death itself, and massive clunking.
They put a 3.21 rear with a 3.92 up front!
That 44-44 transfer case clutches are strong as hell, so slippage lol.
I'm thinking they even put a open diff in too. This really blows.

Wow ! No way ! They put 3.21s in when they took 3.92 out ?
You should be getting a new xsmn , transfer case and a complete front and rear end now ...

One time I had my rear end in my v8 rebuilt with 4.56 and was going to have front done next year when I had extra cash, well in the winter I needed my 4x4 and used it a few times. Bad idea lol. Hard to get it out of 4x4 and was all over on the snow

Yeah, I'm concerned about what may have happened having it engaged at those speeds. It was very bad sounding

On page 434 in my owners manual , it says it can be switched from 2wd to 4wd auto while vehicle is in motion but doesn't give a max mph.

68214856AC does come up as a 3.21. How did the dealership come up with this number? They should have ordered per the VIN unless their database is screwed up.

I got underneath the truck and saw the 3:21 and just shook my head LOL. I'm sure the installer had no clue as he just slept whatever they give them in. I am surprised that it happened though
