installed a bbk 90mm throttle body and MIL comes on for IAC higher than expected. had at a dodge dealer to get the throttle relearned and was told PCM controls IAC. used the trinity to adjust idle -300rpm so idles at 510-520 and light still comes on. want JBA headers and hemifever tune but bad time of year to spend a lot on toys lol.

This is a common problem with the BBK TB's. That is why we came out with the 87mm TB. Our port design will flow all the air you need withouit throwing any codes. We have over 100 TB's out right now in both 85mm and 87mm, and have not had a single customer report any CEL's. A 90mm TB is too big for your mods also. Unless you plan to go with boost or nitrous, that big of a TB is actually going to hurt performance.

The size of the TB is only part of the problem. The BBK's have a straight bore, so it is 90mm from front to back. What you want is a TB with a tapered bore from front to back. Anything above the 87mm is just really big for these motors.

Very often a wise choice. There is a LOT of knowledge in this forum.

With the headers and tune, I would go with the 87mm. We have alot of customers running this exact combo with great results.

Said that you wont notice a difference from the TB or from the tune with 3.55's?

So the most performance enhancement I'm likely to do beyond a TB is a CAI. To me that sounds like the 85mm TB is where I should be.

I really doubt I'll take the plunge on a custom tune. What are your thoughts?

You are correct. You need at least a tune and headers to take full advantage of the 87mm. With your planned mods, the 85mm is the way to go.

Which would you recommend first, the CAI or TB. I already have a drop-in filter.

You will feel better throttle response with the 85mm tb than with the intake, but the intake is going to help more at higher rpms. Overall gains are even better when you combine the 2 together.
