I am tired of the cracked manifolds and I am looking at getting BBK shorties for my 2011 Ram. I know that the LT will make more power, but I drive like an old man. I don't use 1/3 of the power this truck makes stock. I just want to not have exhaust leaks anymore, and I feel like the factory manifolds and bolts will just break again.

Do the BBK's work ok on the 2wd? Do they constantly leak or anything like that? I am in South GA so I have no snow or ice to worry about with corrosion/rust. Any help would be awesome. I can get a brand new set of BBK Shorty's for around $200 so that's why I was leaning that way.

I think they will work fine...as well as provide for better flow. I recommend using oem mopar gaskets as well as some quality header bolts. Lastly I would also recommend getting them Ceramic coated either from bbk or a local shop can coat them inside and out, as this will help with heat under hood as well as seal and protect the headers...do it right and they will last! Stock manifolds are garbage.

I have the BBK's with stock Mopar gaskets and a set of 6.1 Hemi bolts. Been on there for almost a year with no problems. I wouldn't waste the money on stage 8 bolts you won't be able to get the fancy clips on several of the bolts.

Really? I just ordered the gaskets and the bolts. I guess we will see what happens...They were $65 shipped...What were the 6.1 header bolts?

Will these work with the factory manifolds as well?

Reason I ask is that a few people have posted and I talked to a vendor and they said they would never run BBK shorty headers. Said they leak on most trucks and are an issue. I am so torn because I have no use in LT headers and can't justify $500 for JBA shortys.

Stock manifolds are ****... the warp and are tiny... need to be replaced. Long tubes are the way to go.... but shorties gotta be better than nothing! Install is key.

So basically I am to the point it is either go back with stock manifolds or do the BBK headers. I am not going to spend $500 on JBA shortys or $800 on JBA LT's.

So...BBK shorty or stock manifolds.

I would say BBK, f the manifolds, are you sure JBA are 500? Thought I just saw them cheaper on Summit.

If u can get ceramic coated...helps a lot!
I got a local buddy that does powder coating and ceramic coatings...said he'd do it for like $50-60.

I figure with the BBK headers if I get them coated that should help with them. I just can't imagine that a set of shorty headers could be WORSE (leak wise and longevity wise) than the terrible factory ****.

There you go....good gaskets....bolts...and coating inside and out....you are good to go!!!!! Much better than stock as well... Those oem manifolds suck..small....cast...and warp consistently! :favorites13:

on the BBK headers...if you don't use the factory gaskets, you don't have the upper heat shield right? Isn't that heat shield built into the OEM manifold gasket?

LOL No I just have 60 year old finger and a pair of Eye balls that tell me there's np way to get those clips on the bottom row unless you have skinny arms and little girl hands.

For about a year then the coating peels away

Heat Shields, nobody's got time for that :)
