After looking at the K&N, MOPAR, Volant and AFE offerings, I got the best price on the AFE. I acted on it as I feel the quality ones do about the same job. Don't be fooled by flow numbers...your intake manifold & combustion chambers only hold so much air at one time.

They are all pretty much the same. I like the plastic tube cai though since they keep the intake temps cooler than the metal ones.

I sell allot of CAI's ... mostly AFE as they seem to be the best flow and sound by far . With the gains they have on numbers they are hard to beat .
That said , I also sell allot of K&N as people pay for the name and the warranty .

As for closed box systems .. Volant hands down .

If you are looking for a quote send me a PM and I can price ya out bud .

No whistle from mine. The stage 1 partially encloses the filter and I have no water worries with it at all.

I like my volant, even though I'll be ditching it soon for the ram air CAI. :D

Here it is, after I post in the wrong thread LOL
Took a full afternoon for the build and waiting for the paint to dry. Whistles pretty loud under the hood, especially when you cut the truck off.

I am doing this as well I think. However, I think I am going to use electrical conduit. It's thicker and can be bent however you want it. Luke told me about the electrical conduit on Saturday. Makes a lot of sense. And definitely cheap and probably every bit as functional as a store bought CAI.

Different truck, but my dad got the afe on his Harley Davidson F150. It does whistle a little, and that sounds absolutely badass.

He got his Magnaflow on, and it was loud, but nothing major. He got the afe on, and now its very loud inside the cab. Anyone have this issue with the Ram? I don't want a CAI if its going to do that.

If you make your own, does it make a difference if you don't have a box around it? I've been thinking about getting a CAI as my next mod, and if i can get away with making my own for less with the same results, then i'm gonna do it. I just don't wanna end up spending the money to make it and not be happy with what I get.

I have a buddy at the track with a 2005 RCSB. He has both a K&N and a homemade CAI. He gets better times with the homemade one.
